Cultural alliances, business ties and tourism activities with Kraków strengthen through film music, FIMUCITÉ & Turismo de Tenerife

- The Tenerife International Film Music Festival is taking part in the Kraków Film Music Festival and delivering presentations that solidify its international reach and its role in boosting culture, tourism and the local economy.
- The initiative forms part of the 20th anniversary of FIMUCITÉ, which takes place from 3rd - 19th July, 2026, and the European project SCT HUB which is a project focused on the exchange of Best Practice concerning sustainable cultural tourism.

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) is strengthening its presence in the Kraków Film Music Festival (FMF) thanks to a new international promotional campaign that has been launched in participation with Turismo de Tenerife under the tourism brand Tenerife Awakens Emotions. The initiative is aimed at fostering closer collaborations and greater alignment between culture, tourism and private enterprise.

This event, which forms part of the 20th anniversary of FIMUCITÉ that will be held from 3rd - 19th July, has highlighted the potential of film music as a driver of international visibility, cultural revitalisation and links with the local economy.  Thanks to the impetus provided by FIMUCITÉ and Turismo de Tenerife, the event has encouraged greater involvement by Kraków City Council, its Department of Tourism, and the Polish city’s Tourism Alliance. It has also opened the door to participation of the Kraków Network, a local platform bringing together entrepreneurs, hoteliers and restaurateurs.

On Friday, a joint presentation by the two partner festivals was held in front of around 50 attendees, including members of the media. The event focused on public-private partnership, providing institutional representatives, professionals and business leaders alike with a platform from which they could share how they have supported the festival, and what tangible benefits have been gained as a result of this support in terms of visibility, business impact and customer acquisition.

As part of this event, FIMUCITÉ shared the experiences of Tenerife and the campaign run under the slogan “La isla a través del festival / El festival a través de la isla”. The presentation of the case study was given by Nuria Lorenzo of Turismo de Tenerife, with the support of the Canarian composer, conductor and FIMUCITÉ founder, Diego Navarro and Ana Molowny, FIMUCITÉ’s executive producer. The session also included a discussion on how to strengthen partnerships and cooperation between private enterprise, cultural institutions and the tourism sector, with particular focus on joint initiatives that could enrich the cultural tourism offering whilst strengthening the brand images of Tenerife and Kraków.

The event forms parts of the innovative plan Sustainable Cultural Tourism Hub (SCT HUB), a project financed by the European Urban Initiative (EUI) focused on participatory culture and codesigning the future of Sustainable Tourism. The program promotes networking, the exchange of experiences and Best Practice between different cities, helping create new models for collaboration in the fields of culture and tourism.

Following this presentation, FIMUCITÉ hosted a business lunch at the iconic Szara Gęś restaurant. Attending the event were officials, directors and chairpersons of leading organisations within Kraków City Council linked to tourism and culture, members of the Tourism Alliance, consuls and representatives from the Spanish Embassy and Consulate in Poland, business leaders from the hospitality sector, and the directors of the partner festivals that make up the so-called Triumvirate: the Kraków FMF, FIMUCITÉ, and the Rome Film Music Festival.

Additionally, as part of the programme for the 19th edition of the FMF, a roundtable event was held on the Saturday featuring FIMUCITÉ representatives Diego Navarro and Ana Molowny, alongside representatives from the Kraków Film Festival (FMF) and other international film music festivals. Representing the FMF were its artistic director, Agata Grabowiecka and Robert Piaskowski, one of the leading cultural figures in Kraków and former director of the FMF. Representing the other specialist festivals were  Claire Tillekaerts (Film Fest Gent), Michael Beek and Dora Kmezic (London Soundtrack Festival), and Alexander Duca De Tey (Europäischen FilmPhilharmonie).

With its twenty-year history, FIMUCITÉ has established itself as a cultural and strategic platform for promoting Tenerife internationally through film music. Its twentieth anniversary edition will feature a special programme dedicated to the greatest Oscar-winning scores in the history of cinema with special tribute being paid to John Williams. Events such as the live-to-picture show Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert and the FIMUCITÉ 20 Red Carpet Gala, are reaffirming  the festival’s contributions to the arts and tourism.

Institutional Support
The Tenerife International Film Music Festival will be marking its 20th anniversary in style with the support of its main sponsor, Turismo de Tenerife under the Cabildo de Tenerife, and additional support from the island’s Department of Culture. The festival is also sponsored by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development of the Government of the Canary Islands. FIMUCITÉ extends its gratitude to the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST), the Auditorio de Tenerife, and its many public and private partners for their continued support.
