- The event marks the Spanish premiere of this chamber music programme dedicated to the works and musical achievements of the American composer and five-time Oscar winner.

This Saturday, July 18th, the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) will be presenting one of the highlights of its 20th anniversary concert programme at the Guiniguada Theatre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the concert ‘John Williams Reimagined’. The intimate performance was held in the Chamber Music Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife last night, and received a rounding ovation from the audience who enjoyed a selection of some of the legendary composer’s most celebrated scores. The concert is now moving to Gran Canaria, offering the public an exceptional opportunity to enjoy chamber music and a unique tribute to film music in an intimate setting. This Spanish premiere further cements the international scope and exclusive nature of the FIMUCITÉ 20 programme.

Produced by Robert Townson, the concert takes the audience on a journey through some of the most iconic scores by John Williams, a composer who, at the age of 94, remains one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema. The performance features the internationally renowned Italian pianist Simone Pedroni, the internationally acclaimed solo flautist and recording artist Sara Andon, and the Madrid-born cellist Irene Alvar Rozas, a member of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. At this event, the audience will be able to rediscover unforgettable works such as Schindler’s List and Jurassic Park, which Sara Andon dedicated to the actor Sam Neill, who passed away just this week.

Remarking on the audience’s response and the quality of the musicians’ performance, Towson  stated, “It has been a magical evening; the soloists have achieved incredible musicality. We all grew up with the music of John Williams and we are very grateful to be sharing it with audiences in the Canary Islands audience on this 20th anniversary of FIMUCITÉ”.

For her part, Sara Andon expressed her excitement at returning to the festival and highlighted the special nature of this event: “I’m very happy and honoured to be here. This is my fifth time taking part in the festival and I feel it’s like a family to me. This trio concert is very special because we’ve recorded a new album dedicated to the music of John Williams, who is loved all over the world, and now we can bring it to intimate concert halls, such as the Auditorio de Tenerife, which is one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever played in.”

Simone Pedroni also expressed his delight at taking part in the festival and at the artistic outcome of last night’s concert, an evening that confirmed the interest and emotional connection that Williams’ music continues to inspire among different generations of audiences.

The programme features key works from the history of cinema, such as Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Memoirs of a Geisha, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hook, Sabrina, The Witches of Eastwick, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Far and AwayThe selection aims to showcase both the composer’s melodic power and expressive richness, in a chamber music arrangement that has also received the express approval of John Williams himself, a five-time Oscar winner throughout his career.
