Eímear Noone is a Los Angeles/Dublin-based conductor and award-winning Irish composer of notable acclaim and internationally recognised for her extensive work in film and video games. As one of the world’s leading composers of video game music, she is responsible for some of the most enduring and recognisable soundscapes in World of Warcraft and other best-selling video game titles.
Through her work on World of Warcraft, Eímear’s music has reached over 100 million people, inspiring players to imagine and build new worlds for more than twenty years. Her professional portfolio, comprising over thirty film and video game scores, has earned numerous industry accolades, including the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Video Game Score.
In recent years, Eímear Noone has composed music for animated features such as Niko: Northern Lights, Chantal, Channel 5’s Maxine, and the 2023 comedy The Canterville Ghost, based on the short story by Oscar Wilde. Having also composed the score for Two by Two: Overboard, which topped the UK box office in October 2020 and earned her an Ivor Novello Award nomination for Best Original Film Score, she continues to work on a wide range of international film, television, animation, and gaming projects.
Together with her creative partner Craig Stuart Garfinkle, Eímear Noone has recently delivered a new score contribution for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, which is scheduled for release in October 2025.
Noone’s work in the film industry includes collaborations with directors such as Gus Van Sant and Joe Dante, as well as orchestration work for Oscar-nominated composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth), contributing to the haunting scores of thrillers that include Mirrors and The Hole.
Alongside composing, Noone conducts orchestras worldwide, including the San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, among others.
She made history as the first female conductor to take the baton at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony. Furthermore, she was selected by Nintendo to conduct the first-ever 3D filming of a video game score, specifically for the 25th anniversary recording of The Legend of Zelda series, which went on to set industry records for soundtrack sales, and she has also recorded game scores for Sony Interactive.
Beyond these projects, Noone continues to develop innovative orchestral shows and concepts that expand the boundaries of her repertoire. She is the creator of Electric Arcade and Video Games in Concert, two original live video game concert experiences, and in 2023, she premiered Daughters of the Pirate Queen: The Spirit of Grace O’Malley, a completely original production created for Ireland’s International Women’s Day celebrations. The show sold out the National Concert Hall of Ireland and was attended by President Michael D. Higgins. It brought together some of Ireland’s most exciting female performers and songwriters to tell the story of Gráinne Mhaol, the legendary pirate queen whose legacy had been overlooked for too long.
An advocate for creative women in technology and music, Noone is in high demand as a speaker and broadcaster. She is a regular conference speaker and the presenter of Classic FM’s video game music programme, High Score.
