- Produced by Robert Townson, the concert offers a unique journey through some of the most iconic scores from the silver screen, alongside other musical gems that are rarely performed live.

This year, the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) is celebrating its 20th anniversary edition. One of the programme highlights this year is the concert John Williams Reimagined, which will be hostedby the Teatro Guiniguada located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This special concert offers audiences a performance of chamber music dedicated to the musical world of this legendary American composer. The concert will be held on Saturday 18th July at 19:00h. Tickets can be purchased online or at the theatre’s box office, which is managed by the regional government in the capital of Gran Canaria.

The details of the concert were announced at the press conference hosted by Diego Navarro, director of FIMUCITÉ, who was joined by Sara Mateos, Director of Fundación DISA, and Néstor Rodríguez, Brand Manager at AUDI.

Navarro emphasised, “For FIMUCITÉ, it is very important that the festival can be enjoyed outside of Tenerife,”, stating “That is why we have organised this concert in Gran Canaria, which marks our third return to the Teatro Guiniguada”. The founder of FIMUCITÉ pointed out that every year “The festival attracts large numbers of visitors who travel from Gran Canaria, so we believe it is essential that an event like ours – the oldest of its kind in the world – can be enjoyed on this island, too”.

The event is billed as one of the highlights of this anniversary edition as it has been produced and curated by Robert Townson, who is regarded as one of the most influential international figures in film music production. The concert offers a unique musical experience centred on the works of John Williams, who is one of the most renowned audiovisual composers in the history of film & television.

Featuring live performances by Italian pianist Simone Pedroni, flautist Sara Andon and cellist Cécilia Tsan, the concert offers an intimate, refined and emotional interpretation of some of John Williams most memorable scores, as well as pieces that are rarely performed live but that deserve the limelight. The programme includes narration by Townson himself, which weaves the musical journey together with the wider context of each work.

The programme features works from iconic films, including Star WarsSchindler’s ListMemoirs of a GeishaHarry Potter and the prisoner of AzkabanJurassic ParkHookSabrinaThe Witches of Eastwick and Far and Away. This selection of works is designed to showcase both the composer’s melodic grandeur and emotional depth. The programme has received the express approval of John Williams himself, who has praised the artistic sensitivity of the musicians’ performances and the quality of the new arrangements that have been created for this project. This marks the first time that the maestro’s scores have been officially performed in chamber music format.

The concert will be performed first in Tenerife in the chamber hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife on 16th July - now sold out - before arriving two days later in the Teatro Guiniguada. The concert in Gran Canaria offers the public an exceptional opportunity to enjoy a truly outstanding and exclusive live musical experience.
