Tuesday, 16 December 2025- The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife), the longest running film music festival in the world, will celebrate its 20th anniversary from the 3rd - 19th July, 2026 and deliver A-list guests and truly breathtaking performances.
- The Auditorio de Tenerife opera house in Santa Cruz will play host to ‘Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert’, a live-to-picture performance under the baton of Eímear Noone. It will also host the Spanish premiere of the concert ‘John Williams Reimagined’, and the ‘Fimucité 20 Red Carpet Gala’ led by maestro Diego Navarro, which will be dedicated to the most iconic award-winning scores of all time.
The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), founded by orchestra conductor and composer Diego Navarro, is the longest-running event of its kind in the world. Preparations have now begun for its 20th anniversary edition, a monumental event that will be commemorating two decades of history, and transform the island into the global epicenter of film music. From July 3rd - 19th, 2026, the festival will stage Hollywood-worthy performances that focus on soundtracks that have received nominations or won the industry’s most prestigious of awards.
As per festival tradition, FIMUCITÉ has produced two promo spots for its 20th anniversary edition, which will soon be storming social media. FIMUCITÉ is the only festival of its kind in the world to produce audiovisual content that provides a taste of its upcoming event. The official promo spot for FIMUCITÉ 20 was directed by Sergo Méndez. Event organisers will also be unveiling the official spot for the festival's 20th anniversary, in which a collection of images have been used to share the historic and emotional journey of FIMUCITÉ to date.
FIMUCITÉ will also be hosting the first ever live-to-picture concert of ‘Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope’ in the Canary Islands.
On Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July, audiences are invited to attend a spectacular event, ‘Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert’. This concert has been made possible thanks to an exclusive license from Disney, a major milestone which will see the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra Sinfonica de Tenerife - OST) performing John Williams' legendary score live as the first film in the much-loved Star Wars saga is screened for audiences. The film, which was originally released in 1977 and titled ‘La Guerra de las Galaxias’ in Spain, was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It swept away the competition in both the technical and musical categories, winning Best Original Score for the score composed by John Williams. At the helm will be Irish composer and conductor Eímear Noone, a pioneering figure who made history in 2020 by becoming the first woman to conduct the orchestra during the Academy Awards ceremony.
Spanish Premiere: 'John Williams Reimagined'
On Thursday 16th July, the Sala de Cámara of the Auditorio de Tenerife opera house will host the concert ‘John Williams Reimagined’, which is a celebration of the music by composer John Williams, who holds the record for the most Oscar nominations for a living person. Produced and narrated by Robert Townson, the most prolific producer of film music in history, this recital offers an intimate and renewed vision of maestro John William's work. The concert will feature special arrangements by pianist Simone Pedroni, accompanied by Sara Andon on flute and Cecilia Chan on cello. Together they will bring to life musical gems from films such as Schindler's List, Memoirs of a Geisha, Harry Potter, and Hook, in a tribute that has been personally approved by Williams himself.
Red Carpet Gala
The grand finale of the 20th anniversary celebrations will take place on Sunday 19th July, with the spectacular FIMUCITÉ 20 Red Carpet Gala. The concert, performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra Sinfonica de Tenerife - OST) and the Tenerife Film Choir, will be conducted by composer and conductor Diego Navarro, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood. The closing ceremony of the 20th edition of the festival will offer an exciting journey through sublime scores that were nominated for or winners of the coveted statuette. The program will include masterpieces from diverse films, including “The Wizard of Oz”, “Ben-Hur”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, “Chariots of Fire”, “Dances with Wolves”, “Titanic”, “The English Patient”, and “Dune”, among others. The full concert programme will be made available shortly, but there can be no doubt that this unmissable event is for anyone who is passionate about music in film. This year, for the first time, festival-goers will be treated to three symphonic concerts performed by the OST, instead of the traditional two.

A celebration for the island and the city
In addition to the aforementioned events, FIMUCITÉ 20 activities extend well beyond the doors of the Auditorio de Tenerife opera house. From the moment the festival begins, a wide range of activities will be on offer designed to appeal to many different audiences.
The festival will kick off with FIMUCITÉ Summer Cinema. Film screenings will take place in the Plaza de Residencial Anaga, and the programme will be dedicated to distinguished award-winning films and soundtracks. Other outdoor events available to the general public include concerts performed by Santa Cruz’s very own Pop Culture Band under the musical direction of Gonzalo de Araoz. Following the success of last year's event, the festival's resident pop-rock group is already preparing a vibrant show that includes a wide repertoire of nominated and award-winning songs.
Education also continues to play a fundamental role in the events, as demonstrated by the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy (FSA). These FSA activities bring together industry-leading professionals and guest composers in a series of masterclasses and round tables that will be open to both the general public and students.
The 20th anniversary of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) has been made possible thanks to the support of its main sponsor Tenerife Tourism (Turismo de Tenerife) under the remit of the Island Council of Tenerife (Cabildo de Tenerife), which has also provided support through its department of culture. The festival is also sponsored by the Tenerife City Council (El Ayuntamiento de S/C) and the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development (Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural del Gobierno de Canarias). FIMUCITÉ is grateful for the involvement of the Tenerife Symphonic Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife - OST) and the Auditorio de Tenerife opera house, as well as all our other public and private collaborators.
FIMUCITÉ will shortly be announcing the names of guests, further details about the programme of concerts, and the parallel activities being run as part of what promises to be an unforgettable festival - FIMUCITÉ 20.
