Academy award–winning composer Stephen Warbeck joins the line-up for FIMUCITÉ’S 20th anniversary

- The British composer, best known for his score for Shakespeare in Love, will take part in the Film Scoring Academy and the festival’s Red Carpet Gala.

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), the longest-running event of its kind in the world, is celebrating its twentieth edition this July with a programme that will once again transform the island into the world epicentre of film music. The festival is delighted to announce the participation of one of the leading figures in contemporary screen composition: composer Stephen Warbeck, Academy Award winner for Shakespeare in Love.

The participation of the British composer marks one of the highlights of this edition, as noted by FIMUCITÉ’s founder and director, composer and conductor Diego Navarro. Stephen Warbeck will be attending the FIMUCITÉ 20 Red Carpet Gala on Sunday 19th July at 19:00, which will be held at the Auditorio de Tenerife symphony hall. Conducted by Diego Navarro, this special concert celebrates the festival’s 20th anniversary. The event will take audiences on a journey through some of the most iconic scores in film history performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife - OST), the Tenerife Film Choir, and distinguished soloists.

Renowned for his remarkable ability to tell stories through music, Stephen Warbeck has composed some of the most memorable scores in recent cinema, including: Billy Elliot, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and Jeanne du Barry. His style - defined by a distinctive melodic sensibility and a profound sense of narrative structure - has also led to a distinguished career in theatre and television, with a solid track record on Broadway and the West End, as well as collaborations with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

An Academy Award winner and the recipient of honours such as the BAFTA for The Hollow Crown and the Drama Desk Award for An Inspector Calls, Warbeck represents the archetype of the complete composer, capable of moving seamlessly across genres and formats.

During his stay in Tenerife, the composer will also take part in the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy (FSA), sharing his experience with emerging talent and further reinforcing the festival’s educational mission.
