Aleksander
Dębicz

ALEKSANDER DĘBICZ – pianist, composer, arranger, and music director – is one of the most versatile and innovative artists on the Polish music scene. He is the creator and performer of an original style he calls cinematic classical – a genre blending the language of classical music with the narrative qualities of film scores and the freedom of improvisation. He first introduced this style on his debut album Cinematic Piano (2015, Warner Classics)

His output includes works for solo piano, chamber ensembles and orchestras, as well as incidental music for theatre and film. In 2025, two of his major compositions premiered:

  • Unity – a seven-movement work commissioned by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute to mark the conclusion of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, performed at Flagey in Brussels.
  • 1025 – a work commissioned to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław the Brave. The premiere took place at the Poznań Archcathedral, followed by performances in the largest cathedrals in Poland.

Dębicz is also the winner of the Bridgerton International Composition Competition (2022). For years, he has collaborated with countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński. Together they created the #LetsBaRock project, which won the O!Lśnienia award in the classical music category and the audience award. Their collaboration also extends into curatorial work – they are joint artistic directors of the Break in Classic festival, held at the Baroque palace in Otwock Wielki, which presents classical music in a modern, open format.

Dębicz has released seven original albums on Warner Classics and is a five-time Fryderyk Award nominee. He performs all over the world, both with leading orchestras and at folk music festivals. As an arranger and musical director, he has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, consistently developing his distinctive musical language, fusing tradition with modernity.
