Tenerife Film Choir

Artistic Ensemble | FIMUCITÉ

The Tenerife Film Choir has been the resident choir of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) since it was founded in 2007. Established by composer and festival director Diego Navarro, together with soprano and choirmaster Cristina Farrais, the choir comprises a select ensemble of 40 voices (ten per section), drawn from the finest talent within Tenerife’s choral scene. The number of singers may alter according to the requirements of each project.

The current choirmaster is Maestro Juan Ramón. Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, he completed his musical studies as a guitar teacher and choral conductor. Since 1989, he has served as a choir teacher at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

With the Children’s Choir of the Professional Conservatory of Music of S/C de Tenerife (El Coro de Voces Blancas del Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Juan Ramón has received numerous distinctions, including first prize at the Certamen Coral de Ejea de los Caballeros in 2012. Under his direction, the Tenerife Film Choir has participated in a significant number of world premieres of symphonic-choral scores at FIMUCITÉ, including the official concerts celebrating the centenaries of Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation, consolidating its position as an essential ensemble of outstanding artistic quality within the festival.
