Fimucité revs up with a summer film season devoted to Cyberpunk

- From September 9th to 11th, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife offers the possibility of enjoying open air screenings of ‘Tron’, ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Akira’.

The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), directed by composer and conductor Diego Navarro, is offering the chance to enjoy the most representative titles in “cyberpunk” on the big screen, in the open air, as a taster for the celebration of their 16th edition, between the 16th and the 25th of September, with a spectacular programme of concerts and parallel activities that use the sci-fi subgenre as a focal point.

The screenings, which will be in their original language with Spanish subtitles, will take place on the 9th, 10th, and 11th at the concejalía del Distrito Centro-Ifara of the Capital's town hall under the direction of Guillermo Díaz Guerra. All screenings are free.

The season will begin on Friday, the 9th of September with ‘Tron’, written and directed by Steven Lisberger, while on Saturday the 10th, we will be able to see ‘Blade Runner’, by RidleyScott, two classics that celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. Both screenings will start at 8pm. On Sunday 11th, at 7:30pm, the cherry on the cake will be celebrated anime ‘Akira’ (1989), by Katsuhiro Otomo.

The music of these three blockbusters, by Wendy Carlos, Vangelis and Geinoh Yamashirogumi respectively, will be heard at the symphonic concerts that FIMUCITÉ is preparing for the 23rd and 24th of September at the Auditorio de Tenerife: ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 1) – Manga/ Anime’ and ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 2) – Soul of the Machine’, tickets for which are now on sale.

FIMUCITÉ is sponsored by Cabildo de Tenerife, Gobierno de Canarias, Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de La Laguna, INtech Tenerife, Auditorio de Tenerife and Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Teleférico del Teide, with the support of Fundación Disa, Emmasa, Fundación SGAE, Fundación “la Caixa” via CaixaBank, and the collaboration of Domingo Alonso Group and AUDI as the official Festival car.
