- Ben Watkins, founder of the celebrated musical project, and drummer Greg Ellis will take part in the 'Cyberpunk Remastered' concerts that will take place at the Auditorio de Tenerife on the 23rd and 24th of September.
Pioneering psychedelic trance, electronic and industrial band, Juno Reactor, who have collaborated on the soundtracks of films including ‘Matrix Reloaded’, ‘Matrix Revolutions’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’ & ‘Mortal Kombat’, as well as many video-games, Ben will take part in both of this year's symphonic concerts for Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), devoted to “cyberpunk”, as conducted by renowned composer and conductor Diego Navarro, the Festival's director.
Ben Watkins, founded Juno Reactor in 1990 in London and was commissioned by the Wachowski directors to work with Don Davis to score the ‘Matrix’ trilogy. Alongside Ben drummer Greg Ellis, will join the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife to perform ‘Mona Lisa Overdrive’, from ‘Matrix Reloaded’. The Festival will also welcome composer Johnny Klimek, author of the music for ‘Matrix Resurrections’, the latest entry in the iconic sci-fi tetralogy created by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski.
Ben Watkins' music is known for its emphasis on the cinematic, and he has worked with iconic filmmakers, the Wachowskis, Quentin Tarantino, Paul W.S. Anderson. Ben as a producer, artist and performer, Juno Reactor he has forged a collaborative project, including Greg Ellis, one of the world's most innovative and versatile drummers, who has participated in over 200 film, TV and videogame soundtracks, which, as well as the ‘Matrix’ saga, include ‘Iron Man’, ‘300’, ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’, ‘Guardians ot the Galaxy’, ‘Assassin’s Creed’ or ‘Far Cry 4’.
Juno Reactor will take part in the concerts to be held on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of September at the Auditorio de Tenerife, ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 1) – Manga / Anime’ and ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 2) – Soul of the Machine’, in which the music from the ‘Matrix’ saga will play a fundamental role as one of the most important references in dystopian sci-fi and the “cyberpunk” genre, which is the theme for the 16th edition of FIMUCITÉ.
There will be two themed concerts, the programmes for which will include one common part for both concerts and one exclusive to each concert: one centred on anime, where we will hear compositions for ‘Akira’ or ‘Alita: Battle Angel’; and another more focused on robotics in cinema, such as ‘Robocop’ or ‘Tron’. Both recitals will also see the participation of guest composers Brad Fiedel (‘Terminator’) and Vince DiCola (‘Transformers’).
