- This will be the first time that a film music festival features a non-resident international orchestra, a pioneering experience, thanks to the strong bond between FIMUCITÉ and the Krakow FMF.

- The Fimucité Film Scoring Academy opens its registration period with a programmes of masterclasses that will take place at Parque Tecnológico y Científico de Tenerife in La Laguna.

The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ) will open its 16th edition on the 16th of September with a one-off, pioneering event, a concert performed by prestigious chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Cracovia as part of their international tour ‘Kilar 90’, where the publishing label PWM Edition is the main partner. The Teatro Leal de La Laguna will house opening concert ‘Kilar – Glass - Navarro’, in which, under the leadership of Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, we will be able to enjoy compositions by the Polish Wojciech Kilar, responsible for 'Bram Stoker's Dracula', on the 90th anniversary of his birth, as well of those by American Philip Glass, three-time Oscar-nominee, for “Notes on a Scandal”, “The Hours” and “Kundun”. In addition, as this will be the Sinfonietta's first visit to the Canary Islands, they have wanted to include creations by renowned composer and conductor Diego Navarro, director of Fimucité, the most representative musical creator of the Islands.

‘Kilar - Glass - Navarro’ is a project cofinanced by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, in coproduction with FIMUCITÉ. This concert is enormously relevant, as it is the first time in the Festival's history that an international orchestra is invited to take part in the event. Also, it is the first time that a film music festival features a non-resident international orchestra, which would not have been possible without the solid relationship between FIMUCITÉ and the Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF).

Combining the precision and flexibility of a chamber orchestra with successful performances of symphonic pieces, the Sinfonietta Cracovia stands out particularly for its performances of contemporary music. Their FIMUCITÉ concert will offer a unique mix of the musical universes of Kilar and Glass, model examples of composers who maintained their creative integrity whether it were composing symphonies or soundtracks, mass or concerts. The concert will feature Wojciech Kilar's scores for the movies ‘Bram Stoker's Dracula’, ‘Portrait of a Lady’, ‘The Ninth Gate’, as well as concert piece ‘Orawa’, and Phiip Glass pieces for ‘The Hours’ or ‘Dracula’ by Tod Browning. Also, during the concert, there will be a journey through the scores by Diego Navarro for hit movies such as ‘The Photographer of Mauthausen’ or ‘The Beast’, a film which, only a few days after its premiere last January, became the most viewed non-English language film on Netflix, worldwide. It also includes the score to ‘Passage to Dawn’, which, in 2017, was nominated to the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent. The main theme for “The Beast”, and the suite created especially for this concert from “Passage to Dawn” will be World Premieres, having never been performed in concert before.

The concert will be conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, whose repertoire includes symphonies, chamber music, opera, operetta, ballet music and film or musical scores. During the 6 editions of the Film Music Festival in Krakow, she has collaborated with composers such as Hans Zimmer, Elliot Goldenthal, Patrick Doyle, Trevor Morris, Ramin Djawadi or Harry Gregson-Williams, among others. The recital will also feature Polish pianist Aleksander Dębicz and the soloist from Tenerife María Candelaria Hernández, as guest soloists.

This concert, for which tickets are on sale now, will take place on Friday, the 16th of September at 8pm, at the Teatro Leal de San Cristóbal De La Laguna.
