- The Tenerife International Film Music Festival this year devotes symphonic concerts to the music of the most successful Spanish television series ever.

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) presents its fourteenth edition program, where the soundtrack of the successful “Money Heist” TV series will be World Premiered. Manel Santisteban and Iván Martínez Lacámara series iconic score will receive symphonic treatment under the artistic and musical direction of the renowned composer and conductor Diego Navarro, director of FIMUCITÉ. The festival maintains the originally announced dates (September 18 and 27), and will offer film music lovers an exciting program of concerts and parallel activities, despite the exceptional situation due to the Covid -19.
The impact of the international health crisis has led to a complete make-over of the festival which, thanks to the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Santa Cruz City Council, the La Laguna City Council, the Canary Islands Government, the Tenerife Auditorium and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, will maintain its essence, offering original concerts, unique experiences and the presence of exceptional guests.
Maestro Navarro will conduct the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra in the two scheduled performances of 'We are the Resistance: Money Heist In Concert', which will take place on Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th, at the Tenerife Auditorium, with the presence of the composers Manel Santisteban and Iván Martínez Lacámara, and the singer Cecilia Krull, who will perform on stage the popular main song of the series, 'My life is going on'.
Opening concert:
The Teatro Leal de La Laguna will host on Friday September 18th the opening concert of FIMUCITÉ 14, where the singer Esther Ovejero and jazz music will be the stars, leading us through a great selection of songs performed in the cinema by great music female legends. This concert will be offered again on Saturday 19th at the Guiniguada Theater, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. 'Cotton Club Diva', is a tribute to of the mythical New York nightclub and the title of Francis Ford Coppola’s film about the troubled era of the Prohibition in the United States. The program will include songs like 'I say a little prayer for you ', immortalized by Dionne Warwick and Aretha Franklin and part of soundtracks for films such as' My Best Friend's Wedding' or 'The Valley of the Dolls'; 'Feeling good', by Nina Simone, which we remember from 'Point of no return’, 'Killing me softly with his song', which granted three Grammy Awards to Roberta Flack, included in the comedy 'A Big Boy', with Hugh Grant and a very young Nicholas Hoult.
‘Scorsese After Hours’
The Pop Culture Band returns on Saturday, September 19th, with a unique proposal: a selection of songs that the Oscar-winning New York filmmaker Martin Scorsese has used in some of the most famous sequences of his filmography. The Guimerá Theater in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the amazing band led by Gonzalo de Araoz, will perform 'Scorsese After Hours' program, with de Araoz’ arrangements for songs such as 'Gimme Shelter' by The Rolling Stones, from 'Godfellas' soun (1990), or Brenda Lee's 'I'm Sorry', that was included in 'Casino' (1995), among others.
‘Cinemass’
On the other hand, within the program of the fourteenth edition of FIMUCITÉ, the Polyphonic Choir of the University of La Laguna will offer the recital 'Cinemass', which gathers a fabulous choir repertoire that was part of unforgettable films: 'Gabriel's Oboe', by the legendary Ennio Morricone for 'The Mission', the main themes from Bruno Coulais Academy Award Nominee score 'Les Choristes', or the popular 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen, included in the animated film 'Shrek', among others. This concert is an original co-production of FIMUCITÉ, the Krakow Film Music Festival and Soundtracks Live!
III Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards
On Saturday 26th, right before the second concert of 'Money Heist’, the III Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards will be celebrated. Organized by MUSIMAGEN (Spanish Audiovisual Composers Guild) the ceremony will take place in the Tenerife Auditorium.
