Fimucité 12 announces guest composers Christopher Young and Nick Foster

- Young is the composer of successful film scores such as ‘Hellraiser’, ‘Sinister’ and ‘Drag Me To Hell’.

- For FIMUCITÉ Closing Gala, a new symphonic suite from science fiction film ‘Species’, scored by Young, will be performed by Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife.

- Foster is co-author with his brother Ben Foster of ‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’ tv series score, also included in the Closing Gala.

 

FIMUCITÉ is pleased to announce two new guest composers will be joining the line up for the twelfth Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) held from September 21st – 30th. The festival has been made possible thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council. Having performed in the festival a decade ago, the renown composer Christopher Young returns to offer a performance of a suite of music from the science fiction film ‘Species’ as part of the Closing Gala. Nick Foster will also be performing the concert ‘The Truth Is Out There’, taken from the musical score of the animated series ‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’, which he coauthored with his brother, and guest conductor at this year’s FIMUCITÉ, Ben Foster.

Hailing from New Jersey, the Golden Globe nominee Christopher Young has made significant contributions to both film and television having worked on close to a hundred films. Most of his compositions have been for the fantasy and horror genres, such as the films 'Hellraiser', ‘Sinister’, ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’, ‘The Fly 2’, ‘The Dark Half’, ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 2’, ‘Ghost Rider’, or his colaborations with film director Sam Raimi in ‘Drag Me To Hell’ and ‘Spider-man 3’. One of his most acclaimed works is the score for the film ‘Species: Our Time Is Up, for which he received a nomination for the Golden Reel Award. This outstanding work will be peformed on Saturday 29th September at the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín as part of the concert programme dedicated to the subgenre of science fiction that explores U.F.O sightings and alien invasions. Young, who is a profesor of screen scoring at the University of Southern California, has also dedicated his professional career to specialist training and has many followers across the globe; this was evident during his previous visit for the second edition of FIMUCITÉ when he was the undeniable star of an unforgettable meet-and-greet with fans.

In the Closing Gala of the festival, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife will also perform music composed by the Foster brothers for the animated television series ‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’, which earned them a nomination for a BAFTA Award. Nick Foster is well-known for his scores for televisión in Britain and the U.S.A, such as those used for the comedy ‘Timewasters’ or the popular series ‘Bounty Hunters’. He is also famous for his work on advertising campaigns run by Stella Artois, Amazon, or the BBC.
He is currently composing music for a new Netflix production for the mentalist Derren Brown, who he previously worked with on ‘Apocalipsis’ and ‘The Cube’, as well as for a run of new episodes for ‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’ together with his brother Ben Foster.

Tickets for the two symphonic concerts that take place in the Auditorio de Tenerife are on sale now at the venue’s Box Office or online at www.auditoriodetenerife.com. As previously mentioned, on Friday 28th September at 20:00 the Auditorio de Tenerife will host the European premier of the spectacular live-to-picture concert that is dedicated to Steven Spielberg’s science fiction classic, ‘Close Encounters Of The Third Kind’, which will be performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Tenerife Film Choir, who are led by conductor Diego Navarro. The entire iconic score by John Williams will be performed whist the film is projected onscreen. The concert ‘The Truth Is Out There’ will be performed on Saturday 29th of September at 19:00 p.m.

Christopher Young and Nick Foster join the list of guests already confirmed for FIMUCITÉ 12, who include: composer Laura Karpman, who currently serves as Governor at Hollywood’s Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science: Music Branch; the extraordinary pianist Jean-Michel Bernard, who regularly collaborates with the film-maker Michel Gondry; and also guest conductor, Ben Foster.
