Fimucité reschedules ‘Colossus of the Silver Screen’ concert

- FIMUCITÉ Symphonic Youth Orchestra original performance will now be held on Sunday September 30th.

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) will be rescheduling the date of the concert ‘Colossus of the Silver Screen’, due to unforseen circumstances beyond its control. This concert gala will be performed on Sunday 30th September at 19:00 in Teatro Guimerá of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Tickets can be purchased at the theatre’s box office or via TomaTicket.es.

This original symphonic production is the result of the collaborative agreement between FIMUCITÉ, the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Canary Islands Higher Conservatory of Music that will let talented young musicians performing for festival audiences in high profile film music concerts. This time FIMUCITÉ Youth Orchestra (Joven Orquesta Sinfónica FIMUCITÉ), conducted by Maestro José Antonio Cubas, will setting us forth on a musical voyage exploring the music of the greatest movie monsters - King Kong, Godzilla or the dinosaurs from ‘Jurassic Park’. featuring movie soundtracks from great composers such as John Barry, John Williams, Mario Nascimbene, Ramin Djawadi or Jerome Moross.

The amazing concert program will include movie soundtracks from international productions filmed in the Canary Islands. ‘Clash of The Titans’ featuring the Kraken, ‘Moby Dick’ starring a giant whale, or ‘When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth’ and ‘One Million Years B.C’ featuring prehistoric creatures.

This year’s recital adds a new chapter in the common project between FIMUCITÉ and its polish counterpart, the Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF), that involves an exchange programme between the young musicians of their respective youth orchestras. As such, at the end of May we saw FMF celebrating its eleventh edition with the participation of four students from the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands: two violinists, one cellist, and one violist. Likewise, in the twelfth edition of FIMUCITÉ next September, the Polish festival will see four of its young musicians performing in the concert ‘Colossus of the Silver Screen’. This is the first international student exchange of young musicians held between two European film music festivals.

There will also be matinee peformance of “Colossus of the Silver Screen” for schools on Thursday 27th September at 10:30 am. in Auditorio Antonio Lecuona.
