The twelfth edition of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival runs from Sept 21st – 30th, and has been made possible thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council. The award winner will be announced during the Symphonic Gala that will be held on Saturday 29th September in the Auditorio de Tenerife ‘Adán Martín’ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In addition, a special suite has been prepared that is dedicated to the music created by the three award nominees. The suite will be performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and conducted by the composer Diego Navarro, artistic director of FIMUCITÉ. The winning score will then be published by Musimagen in accordance to agreements reached with FIMUCITÉ.
Diego Navarro stated, “Here at FIMUCITÉ we believe it is of the utmost importance to support our music for the audiovisual sector. Spanish composers have regularly been part of our festival. I am very pleased because the creation of these new awards will help, to an even greater extent if that’s possible, to strengthen this support and to continue shining the spotlight on music created in Spain for the audiovisual sector”.
In the words of Darío Palomo, President of ‘Musicmagen - Asociación de Compositores de Música para Audiovisual’, "This represents a fantastic opportunity for Musimagen to form part of the incredible event that is FIMUCITÉ, and, using a jury and voting system, it allows the member of Musimagen to bestow peer recognition on their professional colleagues.”
With one foot firmly planted in Spain and the other in Los Angeles, nominee Carlos M. Jara has composed music for television series (‘Conquistadores’, ‘Reinas’, ‘Otros mundos’), documentaries (‘Tabú’, ‘Nacido en Gaza’), programs (‘Cuando ya no esté’, ‘Scoop’, ‘Tras la pista’) and a number of short films.
