Fimucité XI presents its “fantastic” guests

Trevor Jones, Eímear Noone, Richard Bellis, Atli Örvarsson, Craig Stuart Garfinkle and Marcin Przybylowicz form part of the incredible line up of guests of the XI Tenerife International Film Music Festival.

The Closing Gala is dedicated to music from film and television adaptations of novels by the author Stephen King and will be offering up 16 world premieres.

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) has reached the final stretch of the 11th edition of the festival and will come to a conclusion on Saturday 30th September with a spectacular Closing Gala. This event will round off nine intense days full of concerts containing previously unheard musical selections and a wide range of parallel activities involving the participation of a long list of prestigious national and international guests. Once again, Tenerife has become the epicentre of music, most of which has been created for film, but also music created for television and video games. FIMUCITÉ XI has been made possible thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Arona City Council and La Laguna City Council, amongst others, as well as numerous collaborators.

Our guest of honour is the composer Trevor Jones, who is responsible for the soundtracks of ‘The Last of The Mohicans’ (nominated for the Golden Globe) and ‘Notting Hill’, amongst others. His scores for the fantasy films 'Merlin', 'Excalibur' and ‘The Dark Crystal’ will be performed on Friday 29th September during the concert ‘Sword & Sorcery: Symphonic Chronicles of a Legendary Era’ that will be held at the venue Auditorio de Tenerife "Adán Martín" at 20:00. Trevor Jones will be granted one of this year’s honorary FIMUCITÉ- Antón García Abril.

Award-winning Irish composer Eímear Noone will be conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife in what will be a magnificent concert dedicated to the fantasy genre. The evening’s programme will include pieces composed by Noone for the video game ‘World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor’. Noone will also be delivering a master class entitled "Conducting Video Game Recording Sessions", on Saturday 30th as part of the second FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy (FFSA).

Also joining us on the island are Daniel Pemberton and Atli Örvarsson. Daniel Pemberton will be presenting audiences with a world premiere of his music for the newly released film ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’ by Guy Ritchie. Film and television composer Atli Örvarsson, who was born in Iceland, will be bringing us his soundtrack from ‘Season of the Witch’, also a world first.

The FIMUCITÉ XI Closing Gala will be held this Saturday 30th September at 19:30 in the Auditorio de Tenerife. The evening’s programme will include the highly awaited concert ‘Stephen King’s Night Gallery’. This concert was created especially for FIMUCITÉ in honour of the 70 birthday of one of the world’s best-selling authors. Originally from Maine, King has been one of the most influential authors of recent decades. On September 21st, precisely on the eve of the launch of this year’s festival, he celebrated his 70th birthday.

During the programme, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Children’s Choir of the Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz will be under the baton of FIMUCITÉ’s artistic director, Diego Navarro, with Juan Ramón Vinagre as Choir Master. This journey through music from film and televisions adaptations of King’s novels will include music from the mini-series 'IT' composed by Richard Bellis, a returning guest of FIMUCITÉ. Bellis will also be opening the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy by offering an interesting master class to participants.

A highlight of the festival is the presence of Craig Stuart Garfinkle, whose prolific career as a music producer and Emmy-nominated composer includes works created for film, documentaries, television, trailers, multimedia content, commercials, live shows and also video games. He has worked in the musical department of Blizzard for one of its most iconic video games: ‘World of Warcraft’. He has also worked on its expansion pack ‘Warlords of Draenor’. The author will be delivering a seminar this Saturday on composition and technology under the umbrella of the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy, which is based in the venue Auditorio Antonio Lecuona.

Also here in Tenerife is the Polish composer Marcin Przybylowicz who, together with Mikolai Stroinski and Piotr Musiał, co-authored the acclaimed video game soundtrack for ‘The Witcher 3’ that formed part of the concert ‘Warriors from the Silver Screen’. Przybyłowicz will also participate in the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy FFSA with a talk entitled "Work Smart, Not Hard. Writing Music for Video Games’.

The list of invited guests for FIMUCITÉ XI is completed with the orchestra conductor and music arranger Ramón García i Soler, the producer of the Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF) Agata Grabowiecka, as well as solo artists Cristina Ramos (winner of ‘Spain’s Got Talent 2016’) and Fran León (who has participated in successful musicals such as ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Evita’), amongst many other great names.
