On Thursday 28th September at 19:30 there will be a meet and greet with the filmmaker Elio Quiroga, in addition to the programmed screenings of documentaries, feature films, and short films.
The modern art gallery, ‘TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes’ belonging to the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, will act as host to the screening of a selection of films from fifteen countries from Monday 25th – Thursday 28th September for the 5th edition of Fimucinema - the official competition of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ). Screenings will be in TEA’s ‘Salón de Actos’, and tickets are completely free of charge. This year, Fimucinema audiences will have the chance to watch five feature films, five documentaries, and 20 short films. They will also be able to participate in a meet and greet with the Gran Canarian filmmaker, Elio Quiroga. Following this event with the author of ‘La Hora Fría’ – which takes place on Thursday September 28th at 19:30 – there will be two screenings of his works: ‘Sirena Negra’, and the documentary ‘The Mystery of the King of Kinema’.
Fimucinema screenings at TEA begin on Monday 25th at 17:00 with the documentary ‘In Exile: A Family Movie’ by Juan Francisco Urrusti, who shall also be in attendance. Then at 18:30 it will be followed by the short films ‘Sleep’ by Vladislav Khesin; ‘Priceless love’ by Sergio González-Román; and ‘Marion’ by Alexander Conrads. The event will close at 20:30 with the screening of the feature film ‘La Porta Rossa’ by Carmine Elia.
On Tuesday 26th, the event opens at 17:00 with the documentary ‘The Last Ice Hunters’ by Jure Breceljnik and Rozle Bregar. At 18:30 there will be screenings of the short films: ‘Shunyata’ by Chitan Sarda; ‘Swimming in the Desert’ by Álvaro Ron; ‘Monsters’ by Steve Desmond; and ‘Iridescence’ by Max Beauchamp. Finally, at 20:00 the documentary ‘Sea of Sines’ by Diogo Vilhena will be projected.
On Wednesday 27th, once again screenings begin at 17:00. The first work being shown is the documentary ‘El Hombre Que Embotelló El Sol’ by Óscar Bernàcer. The short films being screened at 18:30 are: ‘Family Portrait’ by Kelly Holmes; ‘Mothers of Luna’ by Alicia Albares; and ‘The Tinwife’ by Travis Neufeld. The event closes with the feature film ‘You Go To My Head’, a stylized French-German-Belgium production marking the directorial debut of Dimitri de Clercq, who until now has worked as a producer for filmmakers such as Mathieu Kassovitz, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Raúl Ruiz and Ray Müller.
India makes its contribution to Fimucimena with ‘Rebellious Flower’, a film directed by Krishan Hooda based on the life of the guru, Osho Rajneesh. It will be screened on Thursday 28th at 17:00. This film is then followed by the short films: ‘Albedo Absolute’ by Vlad Marsain; ‘All The Nightmares’ by Pavel Cichonski; ‘Xmile’ by Miguel Ángel Font Bisier; and ‘Le Chat Doré’ by Nata Moreno. The day closes with a meet and greet with Elio Quiroga and with the screening of ‘Sirena Negra’ and ‘The Mystery of The King of Kinema’.
The selected works will be competing for the FIMUCITÉ - Alex North Award for “Best Soundtrack” in the categories: feature film, documentary, and short film. The President of the official competition jury this year is the composer Richard Bellis; remaining jury members include: James Fitzpatrick (music producer, Tadlow Music), Miquel Ángel Parera Salvà (Technical director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife), and Cándido Pérez de Armas (film director). The poster for Fimucinema was designed by Daniel Fumero (Limbo Kids Studio).
In addition, Fimucinema will open at Multicines Tenerife on Saturday 23rd with the screening of the feature film ‘Oltre La Linea Gialla’, a special animation that includes several short films, and also the Iranian film ‘Release from Heaven’, which was used in the inauguration of Animation Day at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The 11th Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), directed by renowned Tenerife composer and conductor Diego Navarro, will be running until September 30th thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Arona City Council and La Laguna City Council.
