Italian composer Pino Donaggio joins the guest roster for Fimucité 19

- Tickets are already on sale for the concert ‘Cinema e Paradiso’, in which music by the composer, a fequent collaborator of Brian De Palma, will be performed.

Prestigious Venice-born musician and singer Pino Donaggio, who made his film composing debut in 1973 with the soundtrack for Nicolas Roeg's thriller "Don't Look Now" will be attending the 19th edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), which this year is dedicated to Italy, its cultural legacy and history, its music, and its cinema.
A collaborator with celebrated American filmmaker Brian De Palma, with whom he worked on films such as "Carrie" (1976), "Dressed to Kill" (1980), and "Blow Out" (1981), Pino Donaggio's music will be featured in the "Cinema e Paradiso" concert, which will take place on Thursday, July 3rd, at the Teatro Leal in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. This is an original production of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife, the oldest event of its kind in the world, founded and directed by composer and conductor Diego Navarro, in collaboration with the Roma Film Music Festival, with the support of La Laguna City Council, the Organismo Autónomo de Actividades Musicales de La Laguna and Mutua Tinerfeña. 

The program, which will offer the audience an unforgettable journey through the great scores of the best of Italian cinema, will be performed by soloists from the Orquesta Italiana del Cinema, a group formerly conducted by Ennio Morricone, together with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Tenerife. Donaggio's incredible scores for 'Carrie' and 'Dressed to Kill' will be part of a repertoire that also includes the Oscar-winning 'The Postman (Il Postino)' by Luis Enríquez Bacalov and 'Life Is Beautiful' by Nicola Piovani; the monumental 'The Godfather', 'La Dolce Vita' and 'Amarcord' by Nino Rota; and Morricone's 'Once Upon a Time in America', 'The Mission' and 'Cinema Paradiso'. In addition, this concert will feature star soloist Héctor Ulises Pasarella, one of the world's finest bandoneon players and original soloist on the score of 'The Postman' (Il Postino).

Meanwhile, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife has launched its new official website, available at www.fimucite.com. This brand-new, updated site offers all the information about the upcoming nineteenth edition of the event, in Spanish, English, and Italian. It also offers a comprehensive history of the festival, with an exhaustive photo gallery and a unique video library where film music and its composers take centre stage.

The 19th edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife, FIMUCITÉ, will take place from the 7th of June until the 12th of July 2025, with the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife and Turismo de Tenerife as its main sponsors, Gobierno de Canarias via Instituto Canario de Desarollo Cultural, the city councils of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and the Organismo Autónomo de Actividades Musicales de La Laguna.
