Orchestra Italiana del Cinema

The Orchestra Italiana del Cinema (OIC) is the first Italian symphonic project dedicated exclusively to the performance and promotion of the extraordinary artistic and cultural heritage of film music worldwide. Founded by Marco Patrignani, the OIC presents original and exciting multimedia concerts, combining the power of a large orchestra with evocative visual projections, displayed in settings as diverse as historic facades and prestigious theatres.

The orchestra places particular emphasis on the Italian repertoire, tackling both the most emblematic titles of world cinema and the valuable task of recovering and restoring lost scores, with the aim of highlighting the excellence of Italian sound. The ICO is based at the historic Forum Studios in Rome, a place of profound significance for film music, founded in 1969 by legends such as Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni, Armando Trovajoli and Luis Bacalov. These studios have witnessed the creation of countless masterpieces over more than fifty years, hosting composers of the stature of Bill Conti, Jerry Goldsmith and Alexandre Desplat, and serving as a working space for iconic directors such as Sergio Leone, Federico Fellini and Giuseppe Tornatore.
