- The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife will celebrate its eighteenth edition between the 5th and the 20th of July at several venues in La Laguna and the capital of Tenerife, and will be based around musicals and their film adaptations.
El Teatro Guimerá de Santa Cruz de Tenerife has already put tickets on sale for the new musical show by the Pop Culture Band that is part of the concert programme of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), which will celebrate its eighteenth edition from July 5th to 20th. The show 'Don't Stop Believing!', a tour through songs from legendary musicals and biopics of iconic musicians by the FIMUCITÉ pop rock band, will take place on Saturday, July 13th, starting at 8:00 p.m, for 14, 18 and 20 euros, depending on location.
'Don't Stop Believing!' includes songs from musical films such as 'Fame', 'Grease', 'Mamma Mia', 'The Wall', 'Rocketman', 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert', 'Elvis' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' ', among many other timeless titles. Gonzalo de Araoz, the leader and musical director of the Pop Culture Band, is responsible for the arrangements that will be premiered exclusively on this unique night and for the production of this huge concert.
FIMUCITÉ celebrates its coming of age in style and the rest of the concert program, with tickets also on sale, will also pay tribute to emblematic soundtracks from the history of musical cinema.
The opening concert will be on Friday, July 12th at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna, which will become the 'FIMUCITÉ CABARET', with this offering from Atelier de Musique, a band of 7 excellent musicians led by extraordinary saxophonist Kike Perdomo, who will be joined by The Vintage Experience, a trio of brilliant singers specialized in retro repertoire. Perdomo is preparing exclusive arrangements, based on iconic songs from key musicals such as 'Cabaret', 'Moulin Rouge', 'Chicago' or 'Burlesque', which will premiere in this show. Tickets can be purchased, for 15 and 18 euros, at the Teatro Leal box office, through its website and at Tickety.es.
Symphonic Concerts
Tickets for the symphonic concerts that will take place on the last weekend of the Festival at Auditorio de Tenerife are also now on sale.
On Friday, July 19, starting at 7:30 p.m., FIMUCITÉ offers a new "live-to-picture" experience, after the success in previous editions of the concerts dedicated to 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' and 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'. It will consist of a screening of the film 'La La Land' in its original version with Spanish subtitles, while the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife performs its soundtrack live, perfectly synchronized with the images, dialogue and sound effects of the film, as conducted by its composer, FIMUCITÉ 18 star guest Justin Hurwitz. Extraordinary Canarian pianist Polo Ortí will be the main soloist of this concert. Tickets are available at the Tenerife Auditorium box office and on its website, with prices ranging between 29.75 and 55 euros.
'La La Land', which won 6 Oscars from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including best soundtrack and song for Hurwitz, became a global phenomenon and saw the rebirth of the musical genre in cinema.
Finally, the founder and director of FIMUCITÉ, Diego Navarro, will lead the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife for closing concert 'A Million Dreams', a great end to the party scheduled for Saturday, July 20th, at 7:00 p.m. This historical journey will take the audience by the hand as they enjoy monumental scores and world premieres of symphonic arrangements of musical films such as: 'The Wizard of Oz', 'My Fair Lady', 'Singin' in the Rain', 'An American in Paris' , 'West Side Story', 'The Greatest Showman', 'The Phantom of the Opera' or 'Les Misérables'. The roster of solo singers includes top-level Canarian artists such as Cristina Ramos, Carmen Acosta, Néstor Galván and Fran León, among others. Tickets, between 20 and 45 euros, are available at the Tenerife Auditorium box office and on its website.
In addition, FIMUCITÉ offers, for its concerts at the Auditorio de Tenerife, a discount of 5 euros per ticket for under 30s, a 15% discount for large families and a pass that consists of a 10% discount for the joint purchase of a ticket for both events (La La Land in Concert and A Million Dreams), purchasing both days in the same area, available in all areas and only at the box office. Likewise, subscribers to the 2023-2024 season of the Tenerife Symphony will be able to benefit from a 10% discount on tickets.
On the other hand, FIMUCITÉ wants to reward the loyalty of the first 100 ticket buyers for the symphony concerts by gifting them an official surprise gift from the festival.
