‘Cinema Morricone’ is a magnificent way to kick off the 13thTenerife International Film Music Festival’s concert programme and parallel activities. The festival will run from September 20th – 29th thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.
The recurring theme throughout this year’s 13th festival is horror film classics. As such, the Auditorio de Tenerife will be hosting two huge concerts in which the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Tenerife Film Choir will perform music from some of the most well known films of this genre.
The first of these concerts, entitled ‘My Favourite Fears’ / ‘Mis terrores favoritos’ will be held on Friday 27th; guest conductor Christian Schumann will be taking the helm for performances of scores from films such as ‘Friday the 13th’ and ‘Hellraiser’, amongst others. Joining him will be the composers of these works, Harry Manfredini and Christopher Young.
The second of these concerts is the Glosing Gala, which will be held on Saturday 28th September. This concert is a live-to-picture performance of the film score composed by Wojciech Kilar for the classic film ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’, by Francis Ford Coppola. This concert is a unique opportunity to enjoy the breath-taking film starring Gary Oldman, Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder as a live orchestra & choir perform the film score in perfect synchrony with onscreen images. Taking up the baton for this concert is the festival’s artistic director, conductor and composer, Diego Navarro. This original production has been produced in partnership with Krakow Film Music Festival, and in coordination with Sony Pictures, with the collaboration of Robert Townson.
