Pascal Gaigne will receive the critics choice awards for best national composer and best national score at Fimucite

The Tenerife International Film Music Festival has hosted this awards ceremony since 2011.

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife will perform his scores for the films 'The Lighthouse of the Whales' and 'The Olive Tree'.

FIMUCITÉ, which will be held from September 22nd to 30th, 2017, thanks to the sponsorship of Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Arona City Councils, has added the wonderful composer Pascal Gaigne to its list of guests due to his recognition at the XIII Spanish Film Music Critics Choice Awards in the categories of 2016 Best National Composer and Best National Score for his extraordinary work at 'The Lighthouse of the Whales'.

The French composer, who has lived in Spain for the past 20 years, has visited FIMUCITÉ twice, in 2014 and in 2015, when he was also awarded by the critics as best national film music composer.

Gaigne will receive these awards at Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín on September 29th, within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed in 2011 between the Festival and the prestigious website Scoremagacine, organizer of these awards. Also, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife will feature Pascal Gaigne’s suites for the scores for 'The Lighthouse of the Whales' and 'The Olive Tree' (which also granted him his third Goya Awards nomination).

In the recent Malaga Film Festival, Pascal Gaigne summed up the Biznaga de Plata Award for the best score, for his work at Iñaki Dorronsoro’s thriller 'Escape Plan', to his splendid list of achievements. In his long career, Gaigne, a versatile composer who has also composed for concert music and theatre, has worked with filmmakers such as Víctor Erice ('Dream of Light'), Daniel Sánchez Arévalo ('Dark Blue Almost Black', 'Fat People'), Icíar Bollaín ('The Olive Tree', 'Flowers from Another World'), Montxo Armendáriz ('Broken Silence') and Gracia Querejeta ('Seven Billiard Tables'), among others.

In this 13th year, the Spanish Film Music Critics Choice Awards jury, organized by Scoremagacine since 2004, was formed by 29 specialized professionals, film historians and journalists from the leading media such as the magazines Academia, Imágenes de Actualidad, Dirigido por, Scherzo and Melómano, radio stations such as COPE and Radio Marca and digital magazines such as LaButaca.net and Nochedecine.com.

The Irish composer and conductor Eimear Noone will conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife featuring Pascal Gaigne’s works at the beginning of the program on Friday, September 29th, at 20.00h at the venue Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín. After the award ceremony, the concert 'Sword and Sorcery: Symphonic Chronicles of a Legendary Era' will begin, featuring key pieces of the genre, such as 'Conan the Barbarian','The Lord of the Beasts', 'Cromwell, King of the Barbarians' and 'The Dark Crystal'.

Tickets for this concert are already on sale by phone (902 317 327), at the box office of the Auditorium, and online at www.auditoriodetenerife.com.
