LA-born movie and TV composer Tyler Bates, who has left his mark on some of the biggest cinema and TV franchises, such as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘John Wick’, ‘Halloween’ or TV series ‘Criminal Minds’, will visit Tenerife in July for the 17th edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ).

Bates is the go-to composer for movies by James Gunn and Zack Snyder -the two most notable directors of the DCEU- and he will take part in the two symphonic concerts that will take place in the Auditorio de Tenerife on the third weekend of the festival, dedicated to the world of comic books. Thus, on Friday the 14th of July, under the banner ‘Excelsior: The Legacy of Stan Lee’, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, the Tenerife Film Choir and the Coro Polifónico de la Universidad de La Laguna will perform, as conducted by guest conductor Salvador Vázquez, the scores composed by Tyler Bates for titles such as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, Volumes 1 and 2, ‘Deadpool 2’ or TV series ‘The Punisher’.

In the closing gala on Saturday the 15th of July, in the ‘Gods and Detectives’ concert, dedicated to the DC Comics universe, conducted by FIMUCITÉ director Diego Navarro, the programme will include music composed by Tyler Bates for Zack Snyder movies ‘Watchmen’ and '300’, two blockbusters of the genre. Both concerts will also feature performances by renowned drummer Greg Ellis -who participated in the recording of the scores for “300” and “Guardians of the Galaxy”-, as well as guest soloists Lola Bates and Sami Bates, the composer's daughters, who will sing various pieces.

The symphonic double bill offered by FIMUCITÉ, which will feature numerous World Premieres, will also feature other popular scores from the Marvel and DC cinematic universes, as well as adaptations of the stories and characters for television. Standouts include pieces from “The Batman” or ‘Werewolf by Night’ by composer Michael Giacchino, who also directed, or ‘The Killing Joke’, by Lolita Ritmanis, prepared expressly for their premieres at FIMUCITÉ. ‘Spider-Man’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘X- Men’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Superman’ or ‘The Rocketeer’, among others, will also delight audiences.

Tickets for these concerts at Auditorio de Tenerife as well as the rest of the concerts in the FIMUCITÉ programme, which will be held at Teatro Guimerá de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Teatro Leal de La Laguna and the Paraninfo de la Universidad de La Laguna, will be on sale very soon. In addition to this, there will be two types of pass: the traditional pass, which includes both symphonic concerts, and a new VIP pass, which includes seats in a Premium seating area for all six concerts in the programme.
