Tenerife Film Choir

Tenerife Film Choir

Ensembles | Fimucité 2022

The Tenerife Film Choir has been FIMUCITÉ’s resident choir since the first edition of the festival in 2007. The choir ensemble was founded by Diego Navarro, composer and also director of FIMUCITÉ together with the soprano and choirmaster Cristina Farrais.

The choir gathers together 40 of the best voices from the choral panorama of Tenerife to sing in four-part harmony, although the number of voices will vary depending on the needs of any given project. Over the course of the festival, this choir ensemble has played a leading role and performed a vast number of international premiers of symphonic scores & choral songs from some of the best film soundtracks, the most notable amongst them being works that form part of the official centenary commemoration concert for Universal Pictures, or Dreamworks Animation. The Tenerife Film Choir was directed by Cristina Farrais from its creation until 2017, both as conductor and as choirmaster; presently, the choir is directed by Javier Jonás Díaz Hernández. Currently the choirmaster is Juan Ramón Vinagre. It is the first and only mixed choir to be found in the panorama of Spanish film specialized in musical repertoires produced for cinema.
