As part of its activities, the International Film Music Festival of Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ) opens with an official call for cinematographic works for FIMUCINEMA 2017, an event that endeavors to disseminate and promote the role of music as an essential element of a cinematographic production. It is a festival open to all genres, however our focus is strictly on the musical elements of film and any submissions. An award is presented to those works that, in accordance with the decision of the jury established by FIMUCITÉ, offer the best score and the best union between music and imagery.
SELECTION OF FILMS FOR THE COMPETITION
All feature films, short films, documentaries and TV shows that have been produced after 1st January, 2015 and not previously distributed commercially in Spain can apply for the Official Section Competition of FIMUCINEMA 2017. Special consideration will be given to those works that have not previously been screened in any Spanish festival. Screenings will be in 35mm or digital format.
- Alex North Award for Best Original Score in a Feature film
Any national or foreign production with a running time of at least 60 minutes, in digital format or 35 mm.
- Best Original Score in a Short Film
Any national or foreign production with a running time of no more than 30 minutes, in digital format or 35 mm.
- Best Original Score in a Documentary
Any national or foreign non-fiction production with a running time of at least 20 minutes, in digital format or 35 mm.
- Best Original Song
Original theme created for a film or a tv show.
The selected works will be screened either in 35mm or digital format (DVD or Blue Ray). Submissions must be sent to the Selection Committee and must include the final copy and the list of dialogues if the language is other than Spanish. Deadline for submissions: JULY 31st.

The registration receipt must be printed and attached to two DVD or Blue Ray copies (Region Free) and must be sent before JULY, 31. The postmark date will validate the submission date. All films submitted after this final deadline will automatically be disqualified from competing.
The following documents must be included with the copies of the films being submitted for pre-selection on either DVD or Blue Ray:
Entry form, duly completed and signed.
Short synopsis of the film.
Bio/Filmographies and two photographs of the director and the composer of the music in digital format.
Two images of the film, in JPEG high resolution format, for the catalogue and the website in case the film be selected.
Press Dossier, poster and advertising material of the film, for the same goal as mentioned above.
Short description of the characteristics of the music and the musical production.
In case the original language of the film is not Spanish, a list of dialogues and the corresponding subtitles file must be attached.
The sending of promotional materials, compulsory or voluntary, gives automatic authorization to the Organization of the Festival to use them in the materials sent to the media.
All costs for shipping the films for competition are the responsibility of the participant. Copies of the films for the pre-selection will not be returned and will become part of the Festival's archives. The Organization undertakes not to give them to someone else or to screen them without prior permission from the authors.
The Organization of FIMUCITÉ will inform the participant via e-mail of the receipt of the film.
The works for the Official Competition for the International Film & Music Festival will be selected by the Festival Selection Committee, which will be formed by professionals of both fields (film and music) and representatives of the Organization, one of whom shall act as Secretary and participate with a voice and a vote.
The Selection Committee will be responsible of forming the Official Program and will select the works according to the guidelines of quality and creativity issued at the Festival.
The Committee's decision will be irrevocable and the Organization will inform the participants of the results via e-mail. For general information, the list of selected works will also be published on the official website of the Festival. Once selected, under no circumstances can the works submitted for competition be withdrawn from the programme.
The works will be presented in their original version.
All costs for shipping and insurance of the copies and promotional material are the responsibility of the senders. FIMUCITÉ is not responsible for damage to screening copies incurred in shipping.
The Jury will be formed by 4 professionals of recognized musical and/or film prestige, one of which will be acting as Chairman.
The Jury will announce the awards during the fifth edition of FIMUCINEMA 2017.
The decisions of the Jury are final.
The Jury, formed by professionals of the fields, will present the festival award: in the case of the Alex North Award this will be the FIMUCINEMA statuette; for the rest of the categories this will be a plaque.
In the event that no representative of the winning film (composer, director, producer) is able to attend the Closing Gala of the Festival to accept their award, all shipping costs shall be covered by the winner and paid on delivery.
AWARD-WINNING COMMITMENT AND DISTRIBUTION OF WORKS
The Organization of the Festival assumes that the producers or filmmakers submitting works to the Competition hold the rights to the screening of the works said works. The Festival Organizers shall not be held responsible should these parties be in violation of any such rights.
The Festival Organizers will not copy nor distribute any of the works in their entirety. The Festival will be able to use the trailer or a three minute clip of the selected works exclusively for promotional and broadcasting purposes in the media.
FIMUCINEMA will give participants a copy of the Festival logo together with the Award. This logo must be included in future screenings of the film.
ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
By sending the Festival the signed entry form and the film you hereby fully accept the Competition Rules, as well as recognise the right of the Festival Organization to solve any circumstances not expressly covered by these rules.
