Fimucité pays tribute to the unique talent of Angelo Badalamenti in two concerts

- On July the 7th and 8th, the Teatro Leal de La Laguna hosts recitals 'Electronic Penderecki: The Shared Universe of David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick' and 'Jazzdalamenti: A Jazz Tribute to Angelo Badalamenti', which will cover the work of the 'Twin Peaks' composer, by the hand of the Sinfonietta Cracovia and the Big Band de Canarias, respectively.

- The registration period for the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy, one of the most attractive academic offers in music training for audiovisual media, with internationally renowned speakers, is now open.

The Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), which opens the doors of its seventeenth edition this Friday, June 30th, includes, in its concert programme, a heartfelt tribute to Italian-American New York composer Angelo Badalamenti, author of the iconic music for the series 'Twin Peaks', for which he won the Grammy Award and was nominated for three Emmys. The musician whose work will always be linked to that of filmmaker David Lynch, and who also composed the original music that accompanied the entrance of the Olympic torch at the Barcelona 92 Olympic Games, passed away last December at the age of 85, leaving behind a commendable legacy of scores.

His music will first be played at the Teatro Leal de La Laguna on Friday, July 7th, as part of the concert entitled 'Electronic Penderecki: The Shared Universe of David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick', the first part of which will be dedicated to Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki, who died in 2020, and whose works have been part of the soundtracks of horror film classics such as 'The Shining' or 'The Exorcist'. It will be a trip into the darkness of the programmed titles and a whole new sensory experience since, for the first time, a surround sound system will be installed in the Teatro Leal that will heighten the immersive nature of the concert.

The second part, of a lighter and more emotional nature, will alternate musical works that were part of the sound imaginary of works by David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick. A large number of Badalamenti's themes will be performed in a chamber format, focused exclusively on breaking down the collaboration that the composer of Italian origin had with Lynch, in works such as 'Blue Velvet', 'The Straight Story', 'Mulholland Drive', 'Wild at Heart' or 'Twin Peaks'.

Prestigious international orchestra Sinfonietta Cracovia thus returns to the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife after its first participation in 2022, thanks to the solid relations between FIMUCITÉ and the Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF). The concert will be conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, and pioneering psychedelic trance, trip hop and industrial music band Juno Reactor will also take part, alongside other guest musicians. Concert co-financed with funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Cultural Promotion Fund of the Republic of Poland.

'Jazzdalamenti: Jazz tribute to Angelo Badalamenti'
Lovers of jazz and Angelo Badalamenti's music should pencil in Saturday, July 8th, when, also at the Teatro Leal de La Laguna, the concert ''Jazzdalamenti: Jazz tribute to Angelo Badalamenti', will take them on a fascinating journey through the work of the composer as played in a Big Band style. Jazz, in its multiple facets, has always had a strong influence on the composer, and for this reason FIMUCITÉ has created this recital, commissioning a series of exceptional arrangements from famous composer Joseph LoDuca, a close relative of maestro Badalamenti. The concert will be performed by the Big Band de Canarias, under the musical direction of prestigious saxophonist Kike Perdomo, with the participation of LoDuca, an accomplished jazz guitarist, himself, and extraordinary Canarian soloist Esther Ovejero. Thus, the program will cover not only his famous collaborations with David Lynch, from 'Mullholland Drive' or 'Twin Peaks' to 'Wild at Heart' and 'The Straight Story', but also other works such as 'Patagonia', by Marc Evans, or 'The Edge of Love', by John Maybury.
