Gorka Oteiza

Founder and director of the digital media SoundTrackFest, an independent source of information and a consolidated reference for film music festivals, concerts, and events, Gorka Oteiza has always been interested in soundtracks.
Born in Bilbao (Spain) and graduated with a Computer Engineering degree after 5 years at Deusto University, since he was young he has been passionate about soundtracks, taking complementary musical studies and two years of piano, which made him set his sights son world of the film music.

Gorka has participated in many European film music festivals in the last 15 years (Fimucité, Krakow Film Music Festival, Film Music Prague, Festival de Úbeda, Festival de Córdoba, MOSMA, Hollywood in Vienna, Roma FMF, SoundTrack_Cologne, World Soundtrack Awards, ISFMF, Gamemusic Poland, Musimagem Brasil, Ciné-Notes, SONAFILM...), collaborating with Spanish film music websites and festivals, writing articles, reviews, conducting interviews, and keeping track of live events.

He has hosted and has also been part in panels at Fimucité, Krakow Film Music Festival, Film Music Prague Festival, Roma FMF, MOSMA, ISFMF, and SONAFILM, to talk about the role of festivals in culture, the development and growth of film music concerts around the world, or the work of film music critics as ambassadors of audiovisual music as an art form. In 2019, he was a member of the FIMUCINEMA jury in Tenerife. Later that year, in November, he participated & covered The World of Hans Zimmer Tour, traveling with the show for one week across Europe (7 days, 6 concerts, 5 countries). He has also given conferences at the Christopher Young Film Scoring Program Spain and the SAE Alumni Convention.

He has been co-founder and content director of the Seville International Film Music Festival, which celebrated its second edition in January 2023. He has also collaborated with the SONAFILM festival since its first edition in 2019. In December 2022, he became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain.

During all these years, Gorka has interviewed many renowned composers such as Lalo Schifrin, Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Alan Menken, John Powell, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard, Bruce Broughton, John Debney, Roque Baños, Diego Navarro, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Christopher Young, Thomas Bergersen, Nick Phoenix, Trevor Jones, Garry Schyman, Jeff Beal, Brian Tyler, Victor Reyes, Jeff Russo, Cliff Martinez, Christophe Beck, Trevor Morris, Mac Quayle, Sean Callery or Łukasz Targosz among many others, but he is still dreaming of an interview with his lifetime idol: John Williams
